ON THE TURNTABLE: The Flock: THE FLOCK a 1969 Columbia Records release, their first of two as a band, was considered a break through in the “jazz-rock” genre whereby instead of employing just horns in their sound THE FLOCK had Jerry Goodman playing a prominent violin in addition to the horns.I saw the band opening up for TEN YEARS AFTER at Fillmore East, September of 1969 and purchased this album soon after seeing them live. The stand outs on the vinyl were also standouts in their live show: “The Introduction” which is a riff exchange between guitar and violin, “Store Bought- Store Thought”, and their close in concert The KinKs “ Tired of Waiting”.
